First of all, happy fall! šŸ

If you’re new to gut gummies, allow me to introduce you to a fun way to get nutrients in your kids (and you) šŸ˜€ If you’ve made them before then you know the drill, but here’s a quick reminder of why they’re so good for you.

Homemade gut gummies are an easy-to-make treat that will support your kids’ gut health while boosting their immune system. This is possible due to the high-quality gelatin used in the recipe.

It can help restore or strengthen the intestinal lining, which is beneficial for many reasons, but especially for your immune system!

70-80% of your immune system is actually in your GI tract (a.k.a. the gut). This is why looking at the condition of your digestive system is vitally important if you want to limit or avoid the bugs going around or passing through your household.

Let’s dive into the recipe!

Apple Cider Gut Gummies

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh pressed apple cider (Apple juice can work too, but a fresh cider will have a better flavor)
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice (about 1 ½ large lemons juiced)
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 4 tbsp Perfect Supplements gelatin (coupon code belowšŸ‘‡)
  • Optional: add a pinch of cinnamon and/or cardamom

Instructions:

  1. In a small saucepan add the apple cider, lemon juice, and honey and whisk.
  2. Heat up until it’s close to a simmer, but don’t let it boil. You don’t want to overheat the ingredients. Turn off the heat.
  3. Add 1/2 of the gelatin and whisk well until it has dissolved.
  4. Add the rest of the gelatin and whisk well.
  5. Add the mixture to a glass baking dish (such as an 8×8ā€ or 7×11ā€) or silicon molds.
  6. Place the dish or molds in the refrigerator to let set. It should be about 1-2 hours depending on what size dish you poured it in.
  7. Enjoy!

Gut Gummy Tips:

When you think of gelatin you might picture these boxes in the baking aisle šŸ‘‡

I wouldn’t recommend either of these brands given that the sources of the gelatin are not clear. When the source is not clearly labeled, one could assume it’s not going to be high quality.

A good rule of thumb, when selecting any animal product is to ask:

  1. What environment do the animals live in where the product is being sourced from?
  2. Are they cattle that are 100% grass-fed living on pasture OR feedlot cattle that are confined, not eating their natural diet, and are more susceptible to disease?

The importance of sourcing is why one of our trusted brands is Perfect Supplements

They were kind enough to offer you a coupon code for 10% off when you order from their site (click here). The code can be stacked with their volume discount, which would make it 30% off if you order 3 at a time. It’s almost like buying 2 and getting 1 free! (P.S. It’s not a one-time use, so it can be used multiple times!)

In order to use molds you’ll need the right juice to gelatin ratio. For every cup of juice you’ll need 2 tablespoons of gelatin.

In this recipe we have added lemon juice making it a little more than 1 cup juice to 2 tbsp gelatin and it works just fine.

I’ve found that a juice can be plenty sweet and flavorful sipping in a glass, but once you make your gummy mixture it falls a little flat. Adding the lemon juice and honey helped give it a little more umph. Keep that in mind if you decide to try other juices!

Also, the gummies are MORE flavorful when they’re not super cold. Give them a few minutes out of the fridge to help their flavor shine!

I hope you enjoy these gummies! Let me know how they turned out in the comments below.
